From 22nd till 25th September 2009 Representatives of seven Perm companies visited Baku (Republic of Azerbaijan) with trade and economic mission. This visit has been organized by Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the invitation of Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Over 40 companies and organizations from Azerbaijan have shown their interest in products of the Perm companies; there were 75 negotiations held and 20% of such negotiations may, as Perm companies assume, give birth to future cooperation. Special attention was given to the following: the newest products in production of nonmetallic composite reinforcement, wide range of hoisting and conveying machinery, wallpaper printing and production of packing corrugated carton, overhauling of oil pipelines electric motors and actuators. A number of protocols of intentions have been signed to cooperate in the sphere of economic education (conclusion of bilateral agreements with two Azerbaijan institutions of higher education).
It was the second visit of the Perm delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan and the first one was held in July 2003, when mission of fifteen Perm region companies had been invited to Azerbaijan. This republic is the fifth largest trade partner of Russia among the CIS countries and the volume of foreign trade turnover of the Perm krai with the Republic of Azerbaijan amounts to 2% of the gross export volume to the CIS countries.
The Perm delegation had a meeting with Mr. Yuriy E. Scherbakov, Head of the Russian Federation Trade Mission in the Republic of Azerbaijan, senior officers of Chamber of Azerbaijan and Russia Business Cooperation, National Confederation of Businessmen and Azerbaijan Export & Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).
